Officials have banned Airbnb rentals in three of Amsterdam’s central districts last week, beginning on July 1, but the platform has said it is “deeply concerned the proposals are illegal and violate the basic rights of local residents” to rent out their properties to tourists.

The council claims one in 15 properties in the whole city are available on Airbnb and other online booking sites, with the three districts in question offerng 1,500 private accommodation rental properties for tourists.
