The Brand Finance Hotels 50 report shows that Airbnb has seen its brand value overtake all but one hotel group in the Hotels 50, Hilton, for the first time, rising by more than 51% to over $5.5b (£4b) in 2017.

Airbnb doesn’t own properties but is still seen as a threat to hotels as it begins to target business travellers through its Airbnb for Business program, launched in late 2017.
