Airbnb has suspended all of the host accounts of short-term rental startup Domio after a report by online magazine ‘The Information’ alleged fraudulent practices including fake host names and misleading Airbnb accounts.
The platform’s investigations into their activity date back to 2016.
Last year Domio claimed 20% of all bookings were corporate, and planned to double this by the end of 2020, working with large corporations like American Express, Bank of America and JP Morgan. The short-term rental market has been hit hard during the pandemic, with Stay Alfred shutting down operations, and Airbnb, Sonder, Lyric and Zeus Living reducing staff.
