In an effort to stave off yet more criticism of its impact on local communities, housing stock and taxation, Airbnb has said that it will collaborate with hosts and politicians on a clear, modern and simple registration system for short-term rentals in UK cities.

A 6-month fact-finding roadshow of major cities including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol and Bath, Manchester, Brighton and the ‘South West’ (Cornwall) will involve meeting with policymakers, city leaders and local hosts, leading to a white paper in 2020.

The UK does not currently have a registration scheme for short-term lets.
