Accor is looking to leverage its expanded African portfolio to consolidate its position in the north and west of the continent.

The France-based group commands the largest market share with more than 26,500 rooms across over 156 properties in 23 countries continent-wide, plus a pipeline of 54 hotels with over 10,386 rooms.

Its expansion strategy is bolstered by the recent acquisition of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, its 50%  stake in South Africa’s Mantis Group, and its joint US$1 billion investment fund with Katara Hospitality dedicated to hospitality projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.

It will also identify markets for branded residences and extended-stay projects, recently announcing plans to debut its first Pullman Living property globally in Ghana offering 149 serviced apartments and a hotel with 214 rooms and suites.
