Research from the Institute for Employment Studies has revealed that more than 700,000 employees are at risk of being made redundant in the second half of 2020, predicting some 650 thousand redundancies in the second half of 2020, 445 thousand in the three months between July and September and a further 205 thousand between October and December.

Labour Force Survey data show that 240 thousand people were made redundant in the first six months of the year.

It calls for more support in the shorter term to boost labour demand.
