Apartmentservice has completed the “Market Report Serviced Apartments 2018”, for the first time available in English, which reports a 42% market growth in serviced apartments in Germany accompanied by growing investor interest and current trends such as micro-living.
A further 13,900 units are predicted by 2020 with a further increase to 100,000 units by 2030 – representing a 10% share of apartments in the hotel industry.
For the first time, average room rates and RevPar were above those of the traditional hotel industry, and around 84% of operators rate the development of the segment in Germany as “positive” or “very positive”.
The report outlines growth in room nights in 2017, up 2.7 million on the previous year, and in rates; the high return on investment; and innovative concepts in the areas of micro-housing, classic hotels, sharing economy, co-working and co-living.
