InterContinental Hotels Group has launched ‘voco’, its new hotel brand entering the $40 billion upscale segment, which will focus on converting locally-branded and individual hotels.

The voco roll-out will start in Europe, including a number in the UK, also the Middle East, Asia and Africa, with plans to open more than 200 voco hotels in ‘attractive urban and leisure locations’ over the next decade.

The first voco signing in Australia will be a 388-room hotel and spa on the Gold Coast, due to open late this year.
