Research from commercial insurer NFU Mutual has found 67% of consumers would increase their spending if VAT is reduced by 5%, with over half (53%) likely to spend more on weekend breaks in the UK, eating out and leisure.

This could put up to £10.3bn into the UK’s hospitality sector, while even a realistic 1% cut could mean up to £2.1bn for hospitality sector businesses.
