According to ASAP Business Partner JLL, a rising tide of both domestic and international travellers to Africa is driving the current demand away from luxury properties and toward mid-scale options including serviced apartments.

The business market is also moving away from informal accommodation such as guesthouses and lodges, looking for the quality and reliability that the branded mid-market and budget sectors can offer.

The growing trend is spreading across the continent’s city centers, including Lagos, Nairobi and Johannesburg, and hotel operators including Carlson Rezidor Group, Marriott International and Hilton are expanding their mid-market footprint into the East and West African market.
