The UK B&B Association has filed complaints to the UK Competition and Markets Authority against Booking.com and other OTAs around “false discounts” and “false availability claims”, and demands Booking.com cease a consumer advertising campaign promoting ‘Free Cancellation’.

But the European Technology & Travel Services Association and the US Travel Technology Association have hit back, claiming that OTAs are a cost-efficient and risk-free channel allowing additional exposure for smaller properties to compete with big chains.
