Singapore has fined two Airbnb hosts SG$60,000 (US$45,800) each for unauthorised lettings at four apartments without permission from the Urban Redevelopment Authority.

The law forbids public housing rentals below six months, or private for less than three, although a proposed regulatory framework is being developed to include input from the various homeshare platforms.

Singapore is ranked as one of the world’s most densely populated countries and is often named as the most expensive place in the world for expats.
