ASAP member SACO  polled 1,500 UK holidaymakers, and revealed that nearly a quarter of Brits believe there really is ‘no place like home’ when it comes to holidays, with a pub lunch in the Cotswolds taking the favourite ‘happy spot’, hiking in the Lake District a close second and eating ice-cream on Brighton Beach third, followed by fish and chips in Padstow Harbour and the white sandy beaches of the Hebrides.

57% of those polled say they are trying to replicate those memories of holidays in the UK for their own children, with Cornwall, the Lake District, the Scottish Highlands and Devon taking the top 4 locations. Must-do activities also included eating a cream tea, playing cards and crabbing.

Two thirds claimed if you could always guarantee the weather they would never go abroad, and enjoyed the relative affordability and being able to take the family dog.
