Without millions of pounds from government to replace EU funding, there are warnings that rural communities across the UK will suffer considerably after Brexit. Last year, £80m was invested in rural tourism through initiatives including the Leader programme and the Common Agricultural Policy.

It is expected that many farmers may diversify into leisure activities as funding for cattle and sheep farming is likely to drop post-Brexit, placing even more importance on rural tourism. Tourism is one of the UK’s largest industries, creating around 3.1 million jobs.
