Marriott International, the largest hotel company in the world, is launching its entry into the homesharing market to take on the likes of Airbnb and HomeAway via a six-month pilot, working with London-based home rental management company Hostmaker.

More than 200 carefully curated homes in London can be accessed through its (acquired from Starwood) Tribute Portfolio brand, offering Marriott’s standards of guest safety, interior design and customer service, and services such as 24/7 phone support and personal check-in. Bookings will earn Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty points which can soon be redeemed for homestays.

The same 200-plus homes are also available on Hostmaker’s own website and other short-term rental platforms including Airbnb, but come with what Marriott terms its “exclusive experience” and the power of the Marriott brand.
