UK start-up Smarkle, offering a keyless app system for Airbnb and other sharing economy hosts to control guest access remotely, has launched a crowdfunding campaign and raised 46% of its $75,000 target on its first day. Hosts fit a battery-operated Smarkle lock inside the door which allows them to schedule guest entry access via the app. It also has a keypad as an alternative entry method, and says it is protected by “military grade encryption”. Access can also be granted to other members of the guest’s party.
