To tap into the rise of domestic tourism worldwide and a buoyant global tourism industry, hoteliers need to harness the right technology to benefit from new guests and increased revenue.

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) projects growth in 2016 to surpass 3% globally, outpacing global economic growth by 1%.

Post-Brexit, 2.5 million more UK tourists are opting to holiday at home, and July was the highest month ever for inbound tourism to the UK, up 2% on July 2015. Enquiries from the US doubled and from China increased by 61%.

Technology that becomes important in this situation includes mobile-friendly and responsive websites; using online data to maximise accurate and competitive advantage in price and offerings; and diversifying reach globally, especially via OTAs.
