The Americas Lodging and Investment Conference (ALIC) in Los Angeles featured panellists from across major Hotel and technology firms discussing travel technology, especially how mobile technology simplifies the guest experience and improves hotel operations.

Apps on smartphones now allow guests to select specific rooms, pre-order amenities, check in and act as room keys, but both web and personal service remain vital to the over-all experience.

Data gathered from hotel apps and partnerships with other companies  such as Uber can help tailor a guest’s stay through the app with targeted recommendations and suggestions for what to do and where to eat, sort of like a “pocket concierge”.
