In August Hyatt made a minority investment in Oasis, a network of boutique vacation rental properties similar to Airbnb, and now is integrating Oasis into its boutique hotels Unbound Collection under the Hyatt brand, describing Oasis as “a global leader in serviced home rental accommodations”.

Now it appears they intend to add properties from The Unbound Collection and Oasis in its World of Hyatt loyalty programme, which may help dilute the feeling that it works best for the high-spend traveller. If vacation rentals could be used to earn points and qualify for status with the hotel chain, budget travellers could participate and the programme could appeal to a wider market.
