According to the Hotel Bulletin Q2 2017 published by HVS, AlixPartners, STR and AM:PM, the first six months of 2017 has seen growth within serviced apartment sector and the highest number of hotel bedrooms opening in the UK since 2012, up 40% over last year at 7,500.

RevPAR is high in all but two UK cities, with double digit growth in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast, and 8% growth in London suggesting that the weak pound and high profile events were attracting international visitors.

It also reports that the hotel sector is adapting to customer demand “by offering something on-trend and edgy”.

Recent major developments in the serviced apartment and aparthotel sector have included CitySuites in Manchester, Marlin’s new Waterloo aparthotel, Staycity Manchester Piccadilly and SACO’s Eden Locke in Edinburgh.
