In what can be seen as welcome news for many of ASAP’s Scottish and Irish members, for whom China is such an important inbound market, Hainan Airlines has announced the first direct, nonstop flights between mainland China and the Irish and Scottish capitals, to be launched on June 12.

There will be four flights per week, with routes Beijing-Dublin-Edinburgh-Beijing on Thursdays and Sundays, and Beijing-Edinburgh-Dublin-Beijing on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Cathay Pacific is also to start flights between Hong Kong and Dublin, a few days before, while Edinburgh is a hugely popular UK destination for Chinese tourists, second only to London.
