Travel and tourism experts are predicting an uncertain time for inbound US tourism after the election result, especially in light of Donald Trump’s reported views on foreign policy around a travel ban on Muslims and a wall to keep out Mexicans.

Changes in visitor numbers among those groups would affect tourism directly and also have a knock-on effect on companies such as Airbnb and Expedia, who target the Mexican traveller, the second biggest inbound tourism market.

Chinese visitors might also be affected by a trade war, and Trump and his team’s views on women and homosexuality recorded during the campaign would have an impact among those groups.
