A hotel in California has accused Expedia of using ‘bait and switch’ tactics, attracting customers with offers at hotels not signed to its portfolio. When clicked, consumers are (allegedly) told there are no vacancies, and are offered alternatives instead which are signed to Expedia.

Expedia Inc is investigating.

The suit has come as OTAs are under fire from Hotrec in Europe, which is investigating their domination of 92% of the market, showing that online platforms are gaining more and more control over hotel distribution.
