In autumn 2008, supermarket Aldi sold tickets for the first time for short-haul flights with Lufthansa subsidiary German Wings, at 39 euros each way including all taxes and fees.

Now and until the end of January it is releasing travel vouchers for a round-trip flight with the new Lufthansa low-cost subsidiary Eurowings, which can be redeemed until the 14th February, for long-haul trips to Bangkok, Phuket, Havana or five other destinations for 499 euros including a train ticket to Cologne, Bonn and Dusseldorf airports.

However, there is limited availability on flights, so there is no guarantee for travellers that they will secure seats to their preferred destination on the dates chosen, and vouchers are only valid for travel from mid-April to the end of June, outside Whitsun weekend.
