Homesharing services are becoming mainstream for leisure travellers, but a new GBTA/Accor Hotels survey of 147 North American travel managers shows that only 17% of travel policies allow business travellers to stay at homesharing properties. The biggest concerns were around safety and security, unpredictability, non-refundable deposits, the possibility of last-minute cancellations by homeowners and a lack of consistency across properties.

An earlier survey showed 37% of business travellers thought homesharing was allowed, and another 22% didn’t know either way, suggesting some workers are staying in such properties against company policy.

Projections say that by mid-2017, 20% of all business travellers will have stayed in a homeshare property for business at some point.
