The latest UK Chain Hotels Market Review from Hotstats has revealed that hoteliers in the North West of England recorded an 11.7% year-on-year increase in profit per room in April, fuelled by the conference segment of the market.

Despite a 0.1% decline in room occupancy, RevPAR increased by 5.7% for North West hotels during the month, and a 5.9% uplift was also seen in achieved average room rate.

By contrast, in the North East, Newcastle hoteliers recorded a 5.7% decline in room occupancy, suggesting hotels have been hit by new openings of 817 branded hotel rooms since the beginning of 2015.
