The hospitality industry has had to accept that fast broadband is as much a part of a hotel experience as towels or running water to many guests.

But a recent survey has discovered that a third will ask for the wifi password during the check-in process and nearly one in ten will have a sense of panic if there is no wifi. Where there is, two-thirds of guests connect within seven minutes of arrival, the majority saying free wifi is more important to them than a room with a view.
