The first stage of the proposed regeneration of the former BBC Oxford Road site in Manchester city centre, to be named Circle Square, looks set to receive the go-ahead from councillors on 7 January.

Plans include a 12-storey serviced apartment block with 220 homes for students, commercial units including start-up business incubator space, and an apartment building with 384 homes for students.

There would also be a landscaped river garden and two new east-west and north-south routes linking some major roads across the area.
