It would take “years and years” for British workers to fill jobs that are currently done by EU immigrants across hospitality, agriculture and social care, said Brexit secretary David Davis.

According to the BHA, over 700,000 people working in the hospitality and tourism industries are EU nationals, and the NFU said that without over 75,000 seasonal workers, crops would rot in the fields.

The government is still aiming to reduce net migration to below 100,000 a year following Brexit.
