When challenged about money recently pledged to the DUP while the Edinburgh City Deal was delayed by local elections and the general election, the UK government has hinted that news about the financial package for the Scottish capital, which would see cash for innovation, infrastructure, tourism and housing, could be imminent.

The deal is expected to bring £300m from the Scottish government, around the same from the UK government, and up to £400m in smaller contributions from the councils and universities.
