The GSAIR 2016/17 report from The Apartment Service Worldwide shows that while hotel companies dominate the business travel space in terms of pure capacity, 88% of companies now use serviced apartments for one business reason or another.

More than 70% of global serviced apartment inventory is now bookable online, up 10% on last year, and Marriott leads other brands in global apartment units, with 116,672. ASAP members Ascott (37,712 units) and Oakwood Worldwide (25,350) are also in the top six, Oakwood with the most locations.

More workers are using serviced apartments for projects and assignments than normal business travel or through relocation, perhaps affected by the rise in homesharing services, but the report highlights that there aren’t enough apartments in popular destinations.
