Choice Hotels is Australia’s third-biggest hotel operator, with brands including Comfort, Quality and Clarion hotels, and added almost 1100 new hotel rooms to its portfolio during the past financial year.

The company is now eyeing up opportunities in the serviced apartment market in Australia, joining its New York-listed global parent Choice Hotels International in competing directly with Airbnb, which launched its Vacation Rentals business earlier this year. The space it believes it can fill better than the sharing economy is its loyalty program, service and amenities such as restaurants, bars and gyms.
